Online shopping and cashless transactions becomes handy for villagers of West Bengal

Kolkata: Be it online shopping or a railway ticket booking, the villagers of West Bengal have started exploring digital media for their daily affairs. And PMGDISHA scheme plays a lion’s share in transforming the rural parts of West Bengal.


A 55-year-old person from North 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal has started transacting money through BHIM app and that is how India is slowly inching towards the complete digital transformation through PMGDISHA. .


He was part of the registered beneficiaries by VLE AparnaSaha in the district. Aparna, with the training programme, has developed the curiosity among the citizens of the nearby villages who were standing behind in the digital era.

The citizens in BabugramPanchayat in Purulia district have started using the smartphones as the one-stop point for every service. They are making their life more simple and comfortable by using apps for money transfer, railway and bus ticket booking, online shopping, sending emails and messages and many more.

VLE Karim was the key person to propagate digital literacy programmes in the vicinity of Purulia district. Apart from meeting school headmasters, he also met the villages and panchayats authorities to conduct awareness campaigns. He has registered 340 students till date. Regular classes were conducted for 10-15days.
