VLE Profile: Navita Rani

Dismantling the social norms that have been holding back the women for decades, village-level entrepreneur Navitastarted a Common Service Centre in Bhiwani, Haryana, with a sole aim of bridging the gender gap through Digital Literacy. Hence, she had no second thought of launching PradhanMantriGramin Digital SakshartaAbhiyan as her first service through the CSC.

After finishing the household chores, and her responsibilities at the Centre, Navita reaches out to the women in the village to create awareness on PMGDISHA and need of digital literacy in 21st century. The VLE also conduct awareness campaigns at nearby schools which help her to get more students on board.

“CSC has totally changed my life. By organising promotion campaigns for PMGDISHA and digital literacy, I feel that it gives me an opportunity to be part of Hon’ble Prime Minister ShriNarendraModi’s vision and dream of Digital India,” said Navita.

She also helps the villagers and community members in filling various application forms for various services and assist help seekers in Internet Banking.

Navita Rani, a Post Graduate in Hindi Literature, hails from a middle-class family. She also completed B.Ed. and a Diploma in Computer Applications.

“School principals facilitated me with their computer labs and other infrastructure to train students. The faculties have been very cooperative and supportive towards the implementation of world’s largest digital literacy programme,” Navita added.

Saloni, one of the beneficiaries who got trained from Navita’s centre, is working as a computer operator in the nearby town.
